We’ve got a new wine bar in town – and it’s a beauty! Say hello to Vagabond.
Taking over the former Chilango space on Colmore Row, Vagabond is a gorgeous addition to the business district. Their first non-London location; it’s a stylish space with a mix of tables and chairs or high benches and stools, with exposed brickwork and autumnal hues throughout.
Boasting over 100 wines (many of which they make themselves) the bar is self serve via various wine dispensers. You simply download the app or pop some dosh on a top up card, pick your tipples and away you go.
As well as all the wine you could ever want, the bar has self pour beers too. Flash the card, pick your pint and fill up your glass. Some nice local brews are usually available plus some more well known beers. I enjoyed this bit the most as it let me channel my inner Peggy Mitchell and reminded me of my former life as a barmaid back when Busted made albums and Covid didn’t exist. A simpler time… anyway…
Food is available in the form of nibbles, small plates and some more substantial plates like steak and pizza. There’s gluten free options and from what I’ve tried so far of the bar snack bites it’s all pretty good.
For me, this is exactly what this part of the city centre needs. It’s a quality offering in a welcoming and attractive setting. Lovely team working front of house, too.
Vagabond is open every day (yes, even Mondays – hazarrrr) and is a dog friendly bar. I mention this because all you lockdown dog parents ask me this about any new opening – don’t forget I wrote a post about this!

Disclosure: I was invited to a launch party here with no obligation to post about anything – I’m posting because I really like the place. As usual all words, pics and shameless self promotion are my own.
