Cherry Reds to launch ‘at home’ Pancake Day hampers for Shrove Tuesday

Posted on January 26, 2021January 26, 2021 by Laura

Sad to be missing out on the annual pancake eating marathon at Cherry Reds this year? Me too! But don’t worry – Jen and the gang have a cunning plan in the shape of at home pancake day hampers.

From 13th – 16th February Cherry Reds is bringing its annual ‘all-you-can-eat Pancake Day’ and Gal/Pal/Valentines party to your home.

That’s right, you can binge eat pancakes alone in your pants (absolutely no judging here) or plan an online meet up with pals – just pre-order your hampers and they’ll deliver it all to you at home on your date of choice.

Each DIY box includes Cherry’s signature thick and fluffy pancakes plus your choice of delicious toppings. Praise be to the fairy of flipping they’re already freshly cooked so there’s no pans required, you just need to warm them back up. Or eat them cold, whatever makes you happy. You can also add on drinks (they have a cracking beer selection) or merch from the web shop.

DIY hampers start from around £6.50. You can build your own Pancake Box by choosing how many you’d like in multiples of 3, and then adding bundles of toppings and/or drinks. All pancakes are vegan as standard, as are most of the toppings, including Biscoff and Oreo. They even have a gluten free option available.

Jen, owner of the popular John Bright Street cafe and bar, hopes the DIY kits will bring some joy to her regular customers who will be missing the annual pancake events the venue is famous for. She told me:

“Our usual £6 all you can eat Pancake day is incredibly popular. We’ve been doing it for over 5 years now and customers love it, but this year we’ve had to change up the offering.

“Adapting is what businesses already do, we constantly evolve to keep up with latest trends and increasing costs. We normally do it to make a profit to live on and stay relevant, but I probably speak for many independents when I say we’re doing it now to foster positivity more than anything.

“It’s such a hard time for hospitality but we have to keep the faith. Remember, you might think your small order won’t make a difference, but it means everything to us right now.”

You can pre-order from end of Jan for home delivery in Birmingham. Delivery is free on orders over £15 – there’s no collections available this time. Orders must be in by Friday 12th February at the latest – drop the team an email with any questions.

Rumour has it there may also be a special limited addition collab with next door neighbours Bonehead, including buttermilk fried chicken strips, pancakes and maple syrup. More info coming soon.

Don’t forget to support them by sharing your Cherry Reds loot (follow them here) and if you want more at-home kits take a look at my last blog post which has plenty of ideas to make lockdown 3 less awful.

Disclosure: Prices and Pancake Day hamper info correct at time of publication. Not a sponsored post or anything, I just love the cafe and the people behind it and want to support them.

So a few weeks ago I was diagnosed with a severe vitamin d deficiency and given hyper strength VitD supps. Take 2 of these mini vials a week for 6 weeks - they’re moon juice. I swear to god, every time I have this tiny thimble of radiative goo my body and brain go mad for an hour

Absolutely pathetic to the point of it being almost funny.

British supermarkets & producers increasingly “de-Europeanising” foods for post-Brexit UK.

So for example “Petits Pois” (a term much of the world uses regardless of where they come from) has now become “British fancy peas” with Union flag. 2
