If you’ve not tried the daily specials at Purecraft Bar and Kitchen you’re missing out. Big time. Best bottomless brunches in Birmingham

Posted on February 3, 2018April 8, 2018 by Laura

It’s the weekend again and time to let your hair down/drink away your woes. Nothing says ‘living the adulting dream’ quite like taking yourself off to get mildly (totally) hammered with friends on a Saturday or Sunday, and thankfully there’s a host of places across Birmingham city centre now offering bottomless brunch. Unsurprisingly I’ve been…

Posted on February 1, 2018February 23, 2018 by Laura

Digbeth is a part of Birmingham that people seem to either love or hate. Over the years I’ve worked in and around the area so have come to know and love a few local spots for food. Below you will find some of my favourite places in Digbeth to grab a bite to eat, all…

Alternative date nights in Birmingham

Posted on January 25, 2018March 21, 2018 by Laura

Today I’m chuntering about alternative date nights in Birmingham. Whether you’ve been together since school or you’re swiping your way through the dating gene pool to find ‘the one,’ date nights are something most of us enjoy. I love a date night, mainly because they inevitably involve food, but I think there’s more to them…

A very mixed bag of brunch @ The Alchemist

Posted on January 20, 2018February 27, 2018 by Laura

Sundays are the best. The Husband and I usually spend ours eating and abusing our Cineworld Unlimited cards; last Sunday was no exception. Before making the trek over to the cinema (located somewhere between Broad Street and Mars) we decided to ditch our usual go-to spots and grab brunch at The Alchemist on Colmore Row….

Posted on January 9, 2018March 21, 2018 by Laura

Hands up who overspent at Christmas and is now far from flush this month.. yup, I hear you. January is notoriously crappy for most people and a slow one for restaurants and bars, but to combat this many places across the city centre are offering substantial discounts and deals this month. You get a cheaper…

An Indian feast for four @ Hen and Chickens, Jewellery Quarter

Posted on December 11, 2017April 27, 2018 by Laura

My favourite way to eat food is by sharing shed loads of it with good friends, and recently myself and some pals decided to head to the Jewellery Quarter and check out Hen and Chickens. This desi pub recently-ish underwent a megabucks refurbishment (they’ve doubled the size of the original pub) and has been on…

Elegant pub grub @ The White Swan, Edgbaston

Posted on December 2, 2017April 12, 2018 by Laura

I must confess I don’t visit Edgbaston half as much as I should, a realisation I had confirmed during a recent visit to The White Swan, set just off Harborne Road. The venue An upmarket pub that’s brimming with character, The White Swan manages to be both stylish and homely, thanks in part to the…

A new winter menu @ Aluna

Posted on November 29, 2017February 9, 2018 by Laura

I recently visited Aluna in The Mailbox to try the cocktails, but last week I ventured back to sample the food. Having recently launched a new winter menu, I was excited to revisit the canal side bar and restaurant to try some of the Thai style dishes I’d heard about. The venue The restaurant side…

Potter and pizza @ Spotlight

Posted on November 25, 2017 by Laura

Did you ever hear about the girl that was bullied into dressing as Dobby – full makeup, the works – for her hen do? Of course you did, because it was me, and I’m not exactly known for keeping quiet. Despite still having the occasional nightmare about being paraded around Brighton in a potato sack…

Chilled tapas and great wine @ Pinchos

Posted on November 14, 2017February 13, 2018 by Laura

Pinchos tapas bar opens in Birmingham, and it’s a love letter to Spain. The winding streets of Barcelona are a joy for food lovers, with rustic cafes and bars offering Spanish snacks nestled in every nook and cranny. I truly love that city, having been many times both as a solo traveller and with friends….

Aluna cocktail class

Posted on November 14, 2017February 9, 2018 by Laura

Recently I was invited to an event called Girls Night In at Aluna. Promising a glimpse of the popular cocktail menu as well as access to the latest jewellery collection from Stella & Dot, I braved the autumnal monsoon and headed to the Mailbox with some fellow bloggers. I like Aluna (owned by the same…

New just in: The Dark Horse in Moseley does a ruddy good roast dinner Okay, so it’s fair to say over the years I have been quite the creature of habit when it comes to roast dinners. I’ll tell anyone that will listen about the massive Sunday dinners available for under £9 at The Sun…

I’m not sure why they’ve got Priti Patel on Good Morning Britain, tbh, being that she doesn’t know the answer to literally any question she’s asked. “We don’t know yet” to every question (Covid, crime records, government restrictions) isn’t really an answer.

I’ve done everything on my to do list, made some inroads on something quite exciting, and been kind to myself. That makes today a success and for that I’m grateful. Pass the crisps.
