Remember when bar snacks just used to be crisps an Remember when bar snacks just used to be crisps and nuts? I’m perpetually obsessed with padron peppers as a savoury snack. They have to have plenty of salt on them and a good char on the skin, but they’re always my go to if I see them available. What’s your go to and where? 👀
That’s a wrap on January. A month of birthdays, That’s a wrap on January. A month of birthdays, gigs, reunions, carbs on carbs and just enough booze to keep you sane. Let’s go, February 🙌🏼
If you do anything tonight let it be eating an @ar If you do anything tonight let it be eating an @arch13bar pickle plate - because let me tell you now that’s the best £3 you can spend when it comes to bar snacks. Never had a pickled tomato? Ohhh you need to. I dedicate this post to my friend and fellow pickle-obsessive @sapreena27 (happy birthday you pocket rocket) and wish you all gorgeous weekends ❤️
I come bearing good news for your mouths! Today I I come bearing good news for your mouths! Today I discovered you can get 50% off the entire @nottybites food menu on Mondays and Tuesday this month.

That means you can get 3 small plates for just £7.50 (ridiculous value) instead of £15 and curry bowls for £6 instead of £12. If you like plant-based street food you should really get on this deal because you can get a lot of food for not a lot of money.

Here you can see the samosa chaat and spring rolls that cost me about a fiver with the deal. You’ll find these guys at @queensarmsb3 in JQ 6 days a week - half price offer just Mon/Tue until end of January.

Got a bit of flack in my DMs for letting the gravy touch the haddock (swipe) but I gave up arguing about that combo years ago. Special shoutout to the one person I managed to trigger simply by putting scraps on top of my mushy peas.. hope you’ve recovered 😉

Feel free to share your sauce combos in the comments below anyway - always enjoy a debate on a Monday night👇🏼

Anyway! Mega busy week for me so expect less grid posts and more on stories for a bit. Over and out x
Happy Sunday, let’s tackle life’s burning ques Happy Sunday, let’s tackle life’s burning questions…

What’s your favourite cocktail?

I like mine exactly the opposite of how I like men: short and strong 😆 My go to is always a negroni (enjoyed this beauty over at @laghisedgbaston this weekend) with nothing sbagliato about it. Also love a (really very) dirty martini.

My worst nightmare is a pornstar martini or a sex on the beach - anything that’s mainly fruit juice can get in the bin.

What about you lot? Feel free to tag any bars if you have a specific drink in mind to spread the love🍸

Popped to @waylandsyard this week for a co-working Popped to @waylandsyard this week for a co-working session and realised they’d changed the menu up since I last visited. There’s now a section just for mac n cheese, with meaty, veggie and vegan options available. This is the one with garlic mushrooms - massive portion for a tenner and super cheesy. The usual breakfast and brunch dishes are all still available but it’s nice to see some more lunchtime-friendly options again 👍🏼
Let’s talk about Let’s Go in China Town. I’v Let’s talk about Let’s Go in China Town. I’ve walked past this new(ish) mini-market by Arcadian a few times now but today I finally popped in and look what I found upstairs.. a sneaky little ramen bar, no less.

Say hello to @sankara.men. I went for the chicken ramen which comes with either an iced tea or warm green tea for £10. What a bargain for a relaxed lunch out of the hustle and bustle of town! Small menu for now but apparently this is due to increase in coming weeks.

The shop itself has absolutely loads of goodies (particularly good if you like condiments, instant noodles and snacks) and the people working in both the ramen bar and the shop couldn’t be nicer.

A proper hidden gem, this one - will definitely be back. There’s also a Vietnamese pop up in the same shop, if that’s more your bag ✌🏼

How many of you are doing veganuary this year? I How many of you are doing veganuary this year?

I started eating more plant-based meals in 2022 but I want to try more this year.

If I’m dining out I tend to pick the likes of @land_restaurant, @bahaveganuk, @thevegankitchen.co.uk @junglebirdbrum (pictured), @chungyinggroup or @thewarehousecafe for plant-based but I’m always open to suggestions.

Let me know in the comments anywhere you think I should try that’s vegan or at least does great meat-free options.

Lunchtimes in Edgbaston have got a bit sexier than Lunchtimes in Edgbaston have got a bit sexier thanks to the Italian panuozzo sandwiches from @smokeandashpizzeria. It’s basically a pizza sandwich (you can have it hot or cold) and best believe they’re really rather lovely. You’ll find meaty and veggie options - pic one is the buffalo mozzarella, tomato and basil and pic two is bresaola, Gorgonzola and sun-dried tomato. You can have a whole sandwich for £6.50 or half with a salad and a soft drink for about £6.50 on takeaway or £8 dine in. A bargain really for how filling and satisfying it is. Available Wed-Fri lunchtimes for dine in or takeaway 👍🏼 If you’ve not been here yet, it’s a really lovely new venue with too notch pizzas and cocktails. Doggo friendly too! Bon weekend x

Hello! Happy new year and all that vajazzle. Sho Hello! Happy new year and all that vajazzle.

Shocking: I’m really quite hungover. I know, right? Who would’ve thought it! Don’t regret anything though because last night I met a puppy dressed up as Taylor Swift and, frankly, you can’t put a price on that.

Anyway! Let’s be real.. I don’t subscribe to the “new year, new me” bollocks, but I do want to say it’s nice to have you here and I hope this year is a great one for you.

I’ve got some big things planned for both BYB and @bitecomms in 2023 so keep an eye out. Expect more co working days, more drunken meet ups and more nonsense.

In utterly unsurprising news, I’m going to the pub in a bit so big love and don’t do anything I wouldn’t… which leaves you with a fairly expansive garbage pile to roll around in.

Snogs x

Yesterday was the first time I’ve ever had Chris Yesterday was the first time I’ve ever had Christmas dinner out and we couldn’t have had a better afternoon at @thechurchjq_ in JQ.

Great value (five courses plus a few drinks for £65), lovely food and the front of house gang couldn’t have tried harder. I also don’t remember going to bed after the table cocktails, so fair play 😂👍🏼

Only got a few drunken photos which don’t really do it all justice but posting them for the mems. Hope you’re all suitably fat, farty and hungover ✌🏼
Are you ready for Christmas? It’s sort of passin Are you ready for Christmas? It’s sort of passing me by this time (some years I just really don’t get into it at all, anyone else?) but I do love the grub. Don’t know about you but the festive food binge has already started at Chez Laura. I’m all tired and snotty so couldn’t be bothered to venture out for my usual Anderson & Hill sex sandwich, but I think my homemade attempt is pretty serviceable, to be honest. Bit heavy handed on the pickles, like, but that’s probably the healthiest crunchy thing passing my lips for the next week anyway. Gout is the new black and all that. Happy Christmas Eve Eve to you all - don’t forget to pick up some indigestion tablets ahead of the weekend 🤘🏼🖤

Shout out to @abigailsiann and her band of legends for working super hard during a very busy evening at the bar. Always in awe of how hard everyone in hospitality works over the Christmas period anyway but this lot didn’t miss a beat and never stopped.

You don’t need to be told to be nice to everyone in the bars and restaurants you’re enjoying this week but maybe say an extra thank you (and tip) here and there ✌🏼🖤
