Earlier this week I was invited to attend the launch of a new cider taking place at The Stable. Promising a tasty night of pizza and fruity ciders to try I made my way to the popular John Bright Street venue with some of my favourite foodies.
Celebrating the launch of Birmingham-based ODC, this new bottled cider has only just been released but is already creating quite a buzz. It’s made with real fruit and is currently available in two fruity flavours: Mango Fandango and Pomegranate Panache.
The casual event allowed bloggers to sample the two flavours of cider at The Stable – a hotspot for this tipple in the city – before soaking up the booze with a variety of pizzas.
Generally speaking I’m more of a craft lager girl and I usually only choose cider (over ice) as a summertime drink, but these two OCD flavours were quite refreshing and pleasant. It’s great they’re also made in Aston. Personally, I preferred the Mango Fandango for its smoother taste; I imagine it would be a good hair of the dog tipple thanks to the sugar and less-boozy flavour. The bold packaging and colourful branding is also memorable, and I quite liked the accompanying fun beer mats.
It wouldn’t be a visit to The Stable without a slice (or five) of stonebaked pizza, and we were treated to several options, including vegetarian versions. The pizzas were cooked perfectly, with just enough crisp to be satisfying without being crunchy, and the toppings pleantiful. The Four Cheese was my highlight.
All in all a fun night and a new cider experience made and available in Brum. Also, you can read more about the pizza, pies and salads on offer at this city centre venue here.
