Ramblings

The Lenchford Inn, Worcester

A quick post today regarding a recent visit I had to The Lenchford Inn. Technically this place isn’t in Birmingham (there’s nothing technical about it; it’s in Worcestershire) but it’s a lovely riverside setting for dinner, so I thought I’d pop a bit of information on here in case it’s of interest/use to anyone.

The Georgian hotel and restaurant overlooks a picturesque stretch of the River Severn and offers award-winning gastro-pub grub. The garden area around the back is stunning, with a backdrop of boats and perfectly calm water.

Despite being a little dated in terms of decor (it still pretty much looks how I remember it over ten years ago) it’s full of old school country charm, as are the staff. I sometimes forget, living in central Birmingham and mainly only dining in the city centre, it’s nice to escape to a quiet rural spot. And it doesn’t get more country bumpkin than this.

Plumping for mains only, I chose the Sea Bass with Prawns Special (£11.95) which came with a lemon butter sauce, baby potatoes and salad. The fish and prawns were well cooked and tasted fresh, and the pan fried skin was crispy.

Other dishes for the table included Sirloin Steak (£12.95) and Lamb Shanks (£14.95). The service was swift and our waitress was polite.

This is a lovely little countryside gem and is worth a visit for lunch or dinner if you happen to be on the look out for a restaurant around the Bewdley/Stourport area, but fancy something a bit more rural. Plus, Stourport is bloody awful, so just get in the car and enjoy somewhere prettier *wink
