Have you visited The Good Intent in Great Western Arcade yet?
The two story pub opened officially at the end of October, and having visited multiple times now I’m pleased to say it’s a lovely addition to the city’s thriving beer scene.
However, as the name may suggest, there’s more to this boozer than meets the eye. All profits (obviously once the rent and staff have all been paid) go to charity. The charities are set to change as and when, with Love Brum reaping the rewards currently.
I first heard about this venture back in summer and, loving the concept, I backed the crowdfunding to get it open. It’s proving to be a hit with locals (as is the also quite new vegetarian restaurant, Land, a few doors up) and will no doubt help to push the popularity of Great Western Arcade which (on the down-low) is soon to get some more food and drink venues.
If you like beer, unpretentious bar service and a bit of a change of scene, give this place a go. You get boozed up and charities make money – what’s not to love about it.
The Good Intent is open everyday from 12-11pm (9pm Sundays). It doesn’t do food but you’re welcome to take your own in to enjoy with your pint.
Rumour has it the venue will also start hosting open mic nights at some point in the new year. Enjoy!
