Just a quick post having had such awesome feedback about our wedding cake. The West Country Cheese Co isn’t based on Birmingham (sadly) but can be found online.
As anyone that has ever spent more than thirty minutes in my company can testify, I love food. More specifically I love cheese. I don’t discriminate, I really do love all types and I’ll eat it in any way I can. It therefore probably comes as little surprise that my ultimate wedding cake was going to have to involve my beloved cheese.
Recently Ian and I tied the knot in Las Vegas and we didn’t have a wedding cake on the day. We had pizza, because we’re ridiculous. But with a home do on the horizon my lovely papa, Richard, stepped in and offered to buy our celebration cake to share with 100 or so family and friends.
I found The West Country Cheese Co via social media and loved their rustic designs and selection of cheeses. Not only that, some of the creations also involved wheels of pork pie – cheese and pie?! OBVIOUSLY.
We chose the Pork Pie and Cheese Celebration Cake (£165) which combined 4 cheeses and 2 pies. Placing the order was simple, the service throughout was great, and they delivered our mountain of romance a few days before the party.
We constructed the cake ourselves and used it as part of our evening buffet; it proved quite the showstopper. I had so many compliments about the cake, and how good all the layers were. The chicken pie and Stilton in particular proved a big hit.
The base was a tangy cheddar called Quickes Mature, and held a Traditional Pork Pie. The 3rd tier was a deliciously creamy Colston Bassett Stilton, holding a scrumptious Chicken and Ham Pie. Finally, the Miss Wenna Brie and Capricorn Goats Cheese topped the cheese mountain. A fine and diverse selection that went down very well with us and, most importantly, our guests.

*Disclosure: we paid for our wedding cake and I have no ties to the company. I just really loved it and wanted to share the info with those who asked questions on social media*
