Great news incoming! Victoria Square is set to be transformed for spring and summer to support Birmingham’s leisure and hospitality industry – and give us some much needed joy.
Colmore BID has joined forces with Retail BID and Birmingham City Council to bring Summer in the Square to fun starved Brummies.
Due to pop up on the iconic Victoria Square, the area will be transformed into a new social space, allowing locals, visitors and those working in the city to enjoy their favourite bars and restaurants (safely) outdoors.
According to organisers the space will feature ‘socially distanced seating for 120 people, a band stand for live music and entertainment as well as four beach huts with vendors from across the district selling a range of food and drink.’
Taking over the home of everyone’s favourite Floozie, the space will be free for anyone to use and open 24/7 from April 12th. Seating will go in first with the huts and a bandstand for live music and entertainment following soon after.
As well as this, various road will be closed during spring to enable local hospitality businesses to trade outside, and more colourful parklets are being built to enable more public seating in and around the city centre.
The full programme of events across spring and summer will be revealed over the coming weeks. Keep your eyes peeled!
